ACT mindfully created as a tool to teach to manage thoughts, emotions and unpleasant feelings without avoiding them or being controlled. At the same time, it promoted the commitment to act, in order to live a life of their own values. In other words, ACT mindfully teaches acting in the directions of life that have value, changing what can be changed and accepting what can not be. To accomplish this use exercises based on the main approaches of the third generation of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy: specifically the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
